It looks like it's on some moon from an extrasolar super-Earth. Can I ask you what is doing there?
You know... I have a similar idea. Nothing concrete, just a concept that maybe someday I'll paint: An Apollo descent stage under the dark blue sky of the Moon in early stage of terraformation. A sandblasted and crumbling ruin of rusty metal, yet still recognizable.
Good job, then! Because I'm very curious about it.
This is what I think it happened: A small team of archaeology afficionates from the far future built it. They wanted to reenact the ancient Apollo missions, so they replicated the hardware. Maybe the project did end well or maybe not. Regardless the case, the replicas were discarded like some movie props and abandoned to rust in peace.
That explains for me why such a primitive spacecraft is on a place so out of reach to us with our current technology.
I don't think of a crash-landing because that ship wasn't strong enough to whitstand it. And it didn't had the means to land safely... at least not if the Command Module still has attached the Service Module, which wasn't designed for atmospheric reentry.
I'm still thinking that the ship was transported from another place in a passive state and just left there.
