Thinking about starting my own company. First attempt at a logo, I really would like to hear what you all think. Since the company name will be First Design Company, I just want to make sure the logo reads that way.

looks good, but there are a few minor things you should look into.
first of all the letters need more spacing, especially D E and S, also the empty space between the upper part of the G, the circle and the N is a little tight, might cause problems if you scale the logo down.
plus you should try and adjust the position of the st of "1st" so the upper end of the "t" ends at the same level as the "1".
besides that, when i first looked at it, i could read "first design" instantly, hope that helps
